Below are April's month end sold figures in the residential market.

Units sold and total volume have had a 10% decrease each, however, there was a 10% increase in the median price.  Cash purchases increased another 6% bringing it  to a total of 70% of the buyers.  Average prices remained the same. 

Dog Beach in Venice has made the local news and not in a good way.  City council is  receiving  complaints that many dog owners are not cleaning up after their pets.  They are concerned because it may pose a environmental  threat to gulf waters.   Venice city council member Bob Daniels says he prefers not to  take drastic measures,  but  the complaints are coming from visitors and Sarasota County Park officials.   Daniels said  if people can't pick up after their pets, then the park should close. The county will be installing  more signs making the dog owners aware that it's mandatory you clean up after your pet. 

Remember in Venice from May 1st to October 31st, it's lights out on the beaches for the sea turtles laying their nests. 

Activities in Venice and surrounding areas:

May 19th, is the Third Thursday Stroll in downtown Venice Main St.   Shops remain open till 8:00 p.m.

May 22 in Sarasota is the 8th Annual Downtown Craft Fair from Lemon St. to Five Points.  Website www.artfestival.com  Also a green  market will be held at the same time.   

May 27 at 7:00 p.m., Venice Mainstreet Friday Night Live at the Gazebo in Centennial Park in downtown Venice. Bring your lawn chairs.
