Venice Bits

If you didn't catch Nick Wallanda's high wire walk in February from the Ritz Carlton, you have another opportunity.   Nick Wallenda, and his wife, of the famous Wallenda family, will be performing a high wire act on St. Armands Circle. Nick will perform on 70 ft. sway poles.  

The St. Armands event will last two hours. The Discovery Channel is filming a documentary on people who take risks and that will require several takes.   Wallenda will sign posters for anyone making a donation to support All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.  Date is August 20th, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Don't miss this!!

Yesterday, I was able to see the show "Evil Dead" at the local Venice Little Theater. It is a wonderful show spoofing horror movies.   It is about 5 college students who travel to a remote cabin and discover an ancient book that  transforms the students, one by one, into zombie like creatures.  Lots of laughs, only costs $24 a ticket but don't wear your best clothes.  I wasn't in the splatter zone but the blood and guts found me (chocolate and strawberry sauce).   You'll have a fun evening if you like campy horror flicks. 

Went to Manasota Key beach and it was beautiful.  The gulf water was 89 degrees.  I  found some great shark teeth and saw lot of young terns and gulls on the beach.  Another beautiful sight were the abundance of turtle nests  on the beach.   That is a fine sight to behold after all the concern of oil on our beaches.  Thank goodness we were spared and the oil never made its way to our shores. 

Real estate in Venice is slow for August.  The inventory  of homes is dwindling, so if you are considering selling your home, I'm all ears. Give me a call.  Since interest  rates are so low, many owners are also refinancing and there has been a increase in 15 year mortgages, saving owners thousands of dollars. It indicates homeowners are  looking to cut costs and be more prudent in their spending.   That's a good outcome from our past real estate bubble. 

Sarasota students go back to school this coming Monday the 23rd, along with  many colleges students, along with my children.  Hooray!
