Venice Bits

I am enjoying the Fall Season in Venice. October is one of the nicest months to enjoy our quaint town by the Gulf of Mexico.  Restaurants are empty and  there are good sales in the stores.  The temperature during the day is in the 90’s with water temp. in the 80’s.  Let the activities begin. 

The Collector’s Car Show is on October 5th.

On October 3^rd, the Chamber of Commerce will be welcoming Venice Hometown Realty to their roster of business, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the realty office.

Venice Area Chamber of Commerce Consumer Expo is Oct. 10th & 11th. 

Women’s Sertoma Sun Fiesta is on the 18^th and 19th. This is a large celebration that kicks off the beginning of the high  season.

The downtown stores  will be open late (till 8:00) every third Thurs. evening till the end of April 2009

On October 31, it’s Halloween!  Children and adults trick or treat at the shops on downtown Venice Ave. Lots of laughs and fun!

On a national level Congress passed the 700 billion plus bail out of  Freddi Mac and Fannie Mae.  When and what does this all mean? Good question.  My estimate is probably not much will happen immediately and when it does this should enable banks to lend money at good interest rates to revive the economy. Does that mean you should wait.  Let’s look at September 1 through 30 of 2008.  There were 94 residential sales  in Venice with an average  home price of $237,483.   Last year for the month of Sept. there were 81 sales with an average home  price of $272,267.   So this year the  volume  of  sales was up 16%  and home prices were down 15%.  It’s a great time to buy a home.  When the housing market becomes stable and interest rates rise  and home price  rise you’ve missed  the bottom. 

Who is investing in this volatile economy today?  Warren Buffett, he knows the bottom.
